The problem with New Years Resolutions is that they demand a sort of perfection. Once you mess up, all is lost. And what seemed so promising during the champagne toast is cast off like dirty clothes come mid-January.
But what is bad about Resolutions is good about yoga. Contrary to those hopeful promises, yoga does not demand perfection. Instead it offers a gentle path towards improvement. A path that is also the destination. Since it's not a race, yoga allows for mistakes, missteps and mess-ups.
So, today being the 2nd day of January, complete with day-old resolutions (ones that go stale as quickly as bread), keep in mind that with yoga, the second day of the rest of your life carries just as much opportunity as the first.
Enough with the soap box, I'm going to stop nursing my champagne hangover and get back to the mat. (See above photo for how I brought in 2010.)
Happy New Years!!!
Beautiful post, Cindy. (- Which club were you partying at New Year's Eve? Can't tell from photo.)
ReplyDeleteThat was the John Mayer Concert at the Joint at the Hard Rock.
