How Yoga is Like Keeping House (Hint: I'm bad at both)

There are two types of housekeepers:
  1. Those who keep a perpetually pristine house.
  2. Those who let junk, clutter and dirt pile up until they can't stand it anymore and clean everything all at once.
If you have even casually scanned this blog, you can safely assume that I head the second category.

Obviously, the people in the first category are happier because they're always getting to enjoy the fruits of their labor ... whereas the moment my house is clean, it automatically gets dirty again.

The only upside of being in the second category (other than the reckless joy of laziness) is that my one moment of cleanliness is glorious and amazing and transcendent ... whereas if you keep a constantly (and annoyingly) clean house, then you never get the sense of accomplishment from the dramatic change.

In many ways, keeping your body/spirit is like keeping house. Those two categories apply just the same, which is probably why my yoga practice is so consistently inconsistent.

So, when I finally did yoga tonight after a loooooong absence, the class was blissful. And yet, I kinda wish that I could trade some of that special bliss for a little daily yogic happiness, even if it's less intense.

  1. Yoga keeps your body strong, as it involves all the muscles in your body to hold and balance. The yoga is the sum total of all activities — mental and physical. The yoga is improved your mental ability and flexibility of your body. As the same way house keeping also clean and maintain our house.

  2. As I have been traveling for the last 16 months with my partner, this has been one of the biggest lessons. Change is inevitable in life and Consistency is the key. I personally struggle with practice when I am moving around too much or when my plate is too full. Recently, I've gotten in the habit of waking up early and doing my practice before I filled the mind with any excuses to not do my practice.

Love the blog design and your humor.
